McDonald’s NEW Grand Mac – Review

Hello, Everyone This is, “Running on Empty” food review! Thanksgiving blowout. Well, Hello ladies and gentlemen. Everyone watching, happy Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving day, or Thanksgiving evening it is. And here we are, here we sit. Here we are present for yet another food review. And it’s a grand Thanksgiving blowout. And speaking of all things grand, We’re here with a new item from McDonalds, now it is not nationally released yet. It is being released in several states now. And in January it will be released nationwide. But, speaking of grand, today’s review is for the Grand Mac from McDonalds. That’s right. It’s the Grand Mac If you are curious, yes, it is, it’s based off of the Big Mac. Essentially, McDonalds thought, Ya’know, We have the Big Mac, But we wanna make it even BIGGER here. We also wanna make it a little smaller, too. They thought, ya’know, We’re gonna make now an extra large Big Mac. And a smaller Big Mac, and we’ll still keep the original Big Mac, but we’re just gonna now have some avalabilities, for size. In terms of the Big Mac. And a lot of people have been talking about this Grand Mac, you know, their curious. Well, what is it, what is it? How does it taste? Will it actually be bigger than the Big Mac is? And I’m here to find that out. So. We present, the Grandest Grand Mac! You’re going to need 2 hands, it says. You sure are. You know most humans are actually born with only 1 hand. So that sometimes does present a problem. Sometimes you need to get a friend to actually to hold it and help you eat it. That’s their approach and I respect that. But you are going to need 2 hands for a sandwich like this apparently. So, what makes the Grand Mac so different exactly? Well. Let’s hold it up for you. Here it is. Perhaps from a glance, You may not necessarily be immediately compelled to say: “WOW! You know this is huge! This is humongous!” You might not really be able to say that You can see already it is a bit of a messier sandwich. That’s understandable, of course. If it has more stuff, well then it should be. So what exactly does this come with? Well. It comes with: Extra beef. Extra portions of beef. I think 25 to even 50% more beef It also comes with: An extra slice of cheese. That’s right! A whole extra slice of cheese! It also comes with: Extra secret sauce, cause it’s such a well kept secret nobody in the world knows exactly what the secret sauce is Also bigger buns So pretty much they supersized everything and gave it to you. And speaking of that, Well, let’s just try it out and let you know how it tastes like. So the Grand Mac from McDonald’s going in. *nom* *nom* *nom* *nom* *nom* *wipe* *nom* One more bite. *last nom* *wipe* The most famous water challice makes a return. *sip* Thanksgiving blowout! So they call it the Grand Mac. Would I use the word, ‘Grand’? As an adjective to describe it’s size, absolutely. It’s taste and eating experience, however, I would not. Now without a shadow of a doubt the Grand Mac is a genius, brilliant idea. Take all the goodies in the Big Mac and make it 2x as big, that’s excellent! It comes with it’s problems, though. Now in terms of taste I really can not complain. However taste is not always- the most- it is a very very important part, granted, in terms of food. But the eating experience is also, just as equally important as taste. You can have an excellent taste in food and the eating experience can be horrible, will you necessarily be inclined to get that item again? That’s certainly debatable. And the same can go either way. So in terms of taste, this is fine. Very very comparable to the Big Mac, Of course you bite in, the beef is actually a lot more pronounced in this one, as there should be because there are now 2 portions. Or two extra sizes of the beef here. So you are able to taste a lot more of that beef. That juciness you can really get the nice salt and pepper mix here, with the beef. That absolutely does amplify the flavor as well. You can also really taste that tanginess, of the thousand island dressing. Whoops! Gave away the big secret there, I’m sorry. But you can really taste the tanginess of that. That really hits you full force as well. um All in all, it’s a good tasting sandwich. Everything does blend together nicely. And I’d say the flavors are more pronounced than that of the Big Mac. But you might be saying: “Reviewbrah, You know, I want you to talk more detail into what this tastes like, YAKNOW” But as I said, the eating experience is just as important as the taste is. And this is where my problems come in. You see… Just because, increasing all the ingredients, sounds like a good idea. Sometimes it’s not applied correctly and that definitely causes a slu of problems as well. And that’s what your going to get here. Now allow me to say: If you do not care one single bit, about the messiness of eating, Then that’s fine, go out and get one of these right now, it’s not going to be an issue. But you are going to be walking away, probably with a good load of stains on your shirt after this. uh But if you are concerned about the messiness of eating, well, I bring you some problems. I personally believe, they should not have added that second helping of the Thousand Island dressing. I really believe that itself is a mistake. It’s much more flavorful, yes, but in terms of actually eating it, it is way, way, WAY too messy. Extremely messy, you’re going to have it dripping everywhere. When you hold it up, it’s going to be dripping everywhere. When you eat it it’s going to be dripping everywhere If you thought the original Big Mac was messy and you always get frustrated by that silly middle bun always sliding out, This is going to be 10x worse You’re not even gonna- really be able to hold onto the top bun And the top beef patty. Another problem with the bottom of it, is that it also might be a little too cheesy. The 2 slices of cheese, are just plastered at the bottom. So really, sometimes, overtakes the flavor of that bottom beef patty. I think it’d be better if they put 1 slice of cheese on the top and 1 on the bottom. But maybe that’s not as aesthetically pleasing. Still though in terms of allignment of all the ingredients and proportion wise, it definately has some errors as well. It’s a very messy sandwich, and that definitely causes some major inconveniences when consuming this sandwich. Now personally, I think they don’t really need to taste much in terms of, what the ingredient itself taste like, but in terms of portion sizes they do need to change a few things. I think the best idea here, would not necessarily be to change the size of the bun too much, keep the larger patties, keep the original bun, place the 2 slices of cheese 1 on top, 1 on the bottom perhaps. Or one in the middle you could say, one on the bottom. And only have the original amount of Thousand Island dressing, because that sauce is very flavorful a little goes a long way, they don’t really need a ton of it. Also in terms of lettuce, they can have a little bit less. I understand what they’re trying to do here, they want more more, and more. They wanna get a little bit of everything there. But you know sometimes it becomes too messy to become convenient to eat. um We’ll see if they do get some of these kinks out of the system in the coming months, But for now, I think it’s a great idea, except execution, well, it had some problems. I think it is a tasty sandwich, but it is an extremely messy one, and you need to be very, very aware of that, if you decide to get this Grand Mac. Now, they also have the Mac Jr, which I will be reviewing soon. And we’ll see if there’s any differences, if any, in terms of that. We’ll find out. We certainly will. Pricewise the Grand Mac was around $4. Between $4-$5, for this. um Around the higher end of the spectrum at most places you’ll find this between $4.80 and $5. But, it varies place to place. Between $4-$5 you’ll find this. It is a big sandwich so it is priced accordingly. Therefore, out of 10 what am I going to be rating the Grand Mac? From McDonalds, well. Out of 10. Taste is OK. But in terms of actual messiness, the average person, say their eating this on their lunch break; would they really be that inclined to eat this? Get, yaknow, tons of this Thousand Island dressing splattered all over their shirt and tie that they gotta wear now to their next buisness meeting. That’s debatable. You know I don’t think too many people would be happy doing that. So that being said, messiness is definately a problem. I’m gonna have to give this a 7.0 out of 10. Still tastes OK, but, it would be rated higher if it wasn’t as messy of course. 7.0 out of 10 is my rating, for this sandwich. And thank you for watching! This is the famous Thanksgiving blowout!
