Quick Guide: Installing MS-DOS 2.X on Virtual PC 2007

To install MS-DOS 2.X on Virtual PC, you will need 2 floppy disks of MS-DOS 2.X setup. Let’s create a virtual machine. * Typing keys * Set the RAM at least to 16 MB… … same for hard drive. It can’t go more than that due to MS-DOS 2.X limits. Let’s run it. Capture the first disk. And now let’s create a partition on (*uh*) hard drive. Use “fdisk” command. Choose 1 (just press Enter key). Then “yes” (just press Enter key). I’m pressing Enter (key) by the way. (To avoid misunderstanding.) Now press “Escape” (Esc key) Again “Escape” (Again Esc key) And press any key to reboot. Okay, now we should have C drive (Hard Drive partition)… … but it’s empty, so we need to format it. Note about ear rape. (Loud sound incoming, warning for headphones users.) * Loud beep * Press “Y” (key to accept format)… … and press any key to start format. If you try to format a hard drive bigger than 16 MB, it might fail on MS-DOS 2.X. So that’s why I suggest at least 16 MB. Okay, now it’s finished. Now let’s transfer MS-DOS to hard drive. First we need to type “sys c:” to transfer system… Like to transfer… * ugh * for… boot… for booting the hard drive. And now we have to copy all files. * typing “copy *.* c:” * To hard drive. Okay, now let’s switch to… second disk. * typing “copy *.* c:” * And copy everything again. Okay, let’s release, (aaand) and restart. And that’s it. Now you have MS-DOS 2.X on your Virtual PC. Enjoy.
